Biography
“God is in everything.” My father’s life view shared during one of our last conversations before his
transition. Always upbeat, his essence captured through an impish grin that camouflaged his
mischievous personality. It also masked his unbridled sense of humor and helped temper his
straightforward “tell it like it is” conversations.
Dad chose spirituality over religion. On his bedroom nightstand he displayed a copy of the Bible opened to Psalm 96/96, juxtaposed with a copy of the writings by Yogananda. His spirituality fueled his curiosity and wonder about the world around and his place in the universe. He believed that we shared the earth with God and the Angels, our ancestors, and spiritual friends from a greater universe. Reflected in his latter artwork, his photography captured “faces” and images he saw in nature. The photographic images were later translated onto canvas. The depiction of these images can be seen in his collection entitled, The Blue Print Experience and prominently in his untitled collection inspired through meditation which contained 20 oil paintings
One could envision his life through a myriad of renderings during his artistic periods. These cycles beginning the 1960’s brought sculpture, the 70’s focused on Watercolors, the 80’s yielded a series of Pen and Ink, and the 90’s began his artistic expression of photography as well as other media.
During our last conversations, my father provided the perspective which fueled his life long passion and vocation as an artist. He simply said, “I work for God.” His simple words gave insight to his devout love of God, and humility regarding his craft.
